Katran Cube LAMP

Developed as part of the 'Zero KilometreTM Design' concept “THE KATRAN LAMPS COLLECTION” is the designer's expression of beauty in frugality. Colored pieces of cloth are the by-products of export houses from a nearby town, which were then woven into ropes by farmer's and their wives trying to make an extra living during off seasons. Katran meaning the numerous waste pieces of colourful cloth that makes up the rope thus each and every product is different in its shades and textures depending on the material available. The same vibrant material has been handwoven into vibrant, colorful inviting lamps creating a beautiful pattern by the play of light and shadow, imbibing the true sense of sustainability and green luxury. By bringing together indigenous materials and traditional techniques in a re-contextualised manner, it has been our effort to weave ethics, ethnic, ecology with our contemporary culture.
